Manchester United have allegedly offered Real Madrid centre-back Raphael Varane a five-year contract in an effort to entice him away from the Santiago Bernabeu.
The 28-year-old, who is currently training with France’s national team in preparation for Euro 2020, has only one year left on his current contract with Los Blancos.
Man United are still heavily linked with the World Cup-winning defense, while Liverpool, Chelsea, and Manchester City are all thought to be keeping a close eye on the situation.
The Red Devils have offered Varane a lucrative five-year term, according to ABC, although a transfer fee has yet to be agreed with the Los Blancos.
According to the report, Carlo Ancelotti’s side are open to selling him, but are unlikely to do so for less than €70 million (£60.2 million) due to his significance to the club.
Varane has stated that he is completely focused on the European Championships this summer and that he is not ready to discuss his future with the squad at this time.
Man United see him as the ideal defensive partner for Harry Maguire, while Jurgen Klopp wants him to play with Virgil van Dijk in the Liverpool backline.
